Your Pony Club’s chance to be part of the Bates Sydney International Three-Day Event
Mitavite and Sydney International Eventing Inc are proud to invite Pony Clubs from Zones 1, 10, 19, 22, 23, 24 and 26 to be part of this years’ Sydney Bates International Three-Day Event. By competing in the Mitavite Xtra-Cool Pony Club Derby or volunteering you can be part of one of the premier Three-Day Events in Australia.
This initiative is proudly sponsored by Mitavite Xtra-Cool and is all about giving pony clubs within the Greater Sydney region the opportunity to meet Australia’s top event riders, compete at the Sydney Olympics venue and have some fun along the way.
What is the Mitavite Xtra-Cool Pony Club Derby?
A Derby involves each rider completing a jumping course comprising at least 50% natural obstacles. Like eventing it’s not about who can go the fastest but which team can go the closest to optimum time without incurring any penalties.
The Mitavite Xtra-Cool Pony Club Derby will be held in the Main Arena on the Final Day of competition – Sunday 16 September 2007. The Derby is open to Junior Eventing C grade rider/horse combinations from Pony Clubs within Zones 1, 10, 19, 22, 23, 24 and 26.
Each pony club may nominate up to two teams of two junior riders (Team 1 & 2). A Maximum of 15 teams will compete. The second team nominated by a Pony Club will only compete if there are insufficient nominations from other pony clubs.
Entry is free.
The event will be conducted in accordance with the Pony Club Association of NSW’s rules. Maximum height 75 cm and width 0.90m.
Penalties as per the EFA Horse Trials rules;

Knockdown - 4 Penalties

1st Refusal – 4 Penalties

2nd Refusal – Elimination
-
1st fall of horse and/or rider – Elimination,

1 penalty for every 4 seconds commenced over the time allowed
The team with the least penalties and closest to optimum time will be the winner.
The winning club will receive a day’s tuition with Team Mitavite Eventing Riders. The winning team will receive special medals and Mitavite Xtra-Cool horse feed. Ribbons to eighth place.
Everyone from the Pony Club can be involved – if you are not competing why not volunteer?
By volunteering at the Three-Day Event you will receive free entry for all days so you can cheer for your pony club and friends team in the Mitavite Xtra-Cool Pony Club Derby.
