President of the 2008 Olympics Ground Jury Martin Plewa to Judge at Sydney CCI.

The Bates Sydney International Three Day Event this year will be held from 13-16 September and will include classes at CCI***, CCI**, CCI* and CCN PreNovice levels. The Asian Pacific Challenge Trophy will also feature at CCI*.

The President of the 2008 Beijing Olympics Ground Jury Martin Plewa (GER) is coming to lead the CCI*** and CCI** ground jury at the Event. This is the second time Martin has judged at Sydney and will provide riders with a great opportunity to perform in front of this leading international judge.

“Sydney International Evening Inc is delighted that Martin Plewa has accepted the offer to judge at the Event. We are committed to giving riders the opportunity to compete at the highest level” said Paul Cargill, President Sydney International Eventing Inc.
The search is on for horses and coaches to be involved in the Asian Pacific Challenge Trophy. Horses must be currently qualified CCI* or higher and Coaches must have appropriate NCAS qualifications to coach at CCI* level. An expression of interest form can be downloaded from www.sydneyeventing.org.

“The Asian Pacific Challenge Trophy in its first two years has been a very a rewarding experience for all involved.  We encourage owners and coaches who have a horse they could loan or would like to coach an overseas rider to become involved,” said Mr Cargill.

Many other exciting developments are in the pipeline for the Event, including plans to run a State Teams Competition in association with the National Eventing Committee and possibly a Junior Teams Competition in partnership with Eventing NSW.  The Horse Driving Trials and the Mitavite Xtra Cool Pony Club Derby will also run again over the weekend.

This year there are two new awards up for contest, the highest placed Ex-Racehorse and the Best Dressed Male and Female riders at the Trot Ups, along with annual awards such as the Grooms Award, the Robert Slade Memorial Trophy for the winner of the Horseland CCI***, and the Erin Walker Trophy for the highest place Junior in the PreNovice.

“It’s going to be an exciting Event, where you can expect to see some outstanding equestrian performances, win some great prizes as well as do some serious shopping at the trade stands.  Wet or dry its going to be a great event,” said Mr Cargill.
