In response to the NSW DPI announcement that EI has been eradicated and the NSW
purple zone has been changed to a green zone, there is no longer a requirement
for a certificate of immunity. Therefore, non vaccinated horses can compete.
EVERY horse travelling to and from the event MUST have a Travelling
Horse Statement available from NSW DPI Website http://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/agriculture/livestock/horse/influenza/movements/permits/ths.
The Horse Event Registration No. HER: 1283
The organizing committee reserves the right to decline your entry
should requirements of the NSW DPI alter between now and the event – all
entry fees, stabling will be refunded in full less a $10 administration
charge.
For more details on NSW DPI and EFA NSW requirements please check
their websites reqularly - www.dpi.nsw.gov.au and www.efansw.com.au
24/2/08 – Stable
fees for 3DE subsidised courtesy of NSW State Government and
EFA NSW
As part of the Return of the Horse equestrian
series, competitors at the Bates Sydney International Three-Day
Event will be paying less for their stable hire. The subsidy
is a direct result of the NSW State Governments Recovery Package
announced in October last year to aid the recovery of the racing
and equestrian industries. This included $300,000 to the
NSW equestrian industry to help stage a series of major events
The 3DE organising committee would like to
thank the NSW State Government and the EFA NSW for providing
this additional support to the event. It has enabled the
committee to reduce the stable fees for competitors, who have
all been hit very hard by EI. As a result of this contribution
the stable fees have been reduced from $230 to $150.
For more information about the Return of the
Horse equestrian series go to www.efansw.com.au
24/2/08 - Horse Event Registration
Number
The NSW DPI Horse Event Registration Number for the 3DE is HER
1283. All competitors must advise the HER number
on their Travelling Horse Statement (THS).
23/2/08 – Information for Riders – Equine
Influenza Immunity Requirements
For riders intending to compete please note that while the EI restrictions
are easing and hopefully will be reduced even further over the next
month the Event Organising Committee considers at the time of publishing
this schedule that horses will need to be either an EI recovered
horse or an EI approved vaccinate (see definitions below) to compete.
However, the committee, will take entries from
non recovered or non vaccinated horses, but reserves the right not
to accept these subject to the NSW DPI and SIEC requirements closer
to the event – all entry fees, stabling will be refunded
in full less a $10 administration charge.
If your horse is a non recovered or non vaccinated horse, the committee
strongly recommends that you have your horse vaccinated and micro-chipped. To
ensure the vaccinations are completed in time for the event the first
vaccination should be completed at least 8 weeks before the event
i.e. first dose before 3 March (day 1) and second dose 31 March
(at 28 days).
For vaccinated horses the committee strongly advises that you keep
your vaccinations up to date. A 3rd vaccine is required no more than
6 months after the 1st vaccination or no more that 4 months after
the 2nd vaccination. Therefore horses vaccinated in Sept and
early Oct last year will be due for vaccinations in March and early
April. You need to have this 3rd vaccination at least 7 days
before the start of the competition.
Availability of Vaccination and Immunity testing for
all horses owned by EFA members.
The EFA NSW and the Equine Veterinarians Association has developed
a procedure for EFA members to obtain immunity testing, certificates
of Immunity, and vaccine on a user pays basis. Some of the previous
vaccinated horses will require their 3rd vaccine in March.
Veterinarian Practitioners who wish to participate, register their
details on the nominate site and EFA members can then pay and book
their required procedures.
If your vet has not registered, please contact them and ask if they
would like to participate, or chose a vet that has already registered.
There is a travelling component, so we will need to encourage more
vets to participate.
To book and pay please go to: http://www.nominate.com.au/dpi/dpi1.asp
